Glasgow Economic Commission has published a major review of the performance of Glasgow's economy and recommended a range of actions to support the City's future economic growth. Slims Consulting provided expert support to the Commission in the shape of a literature review which explored the characteristics of successful cities and a detailed analysis of where the Glasgow economy sits in terms of those characteristics. The report also benchmarks the performance of the city economy against that of other UK cities including Leeds, Manchester, and Birmingham.
The Commission's final report can be found here. Slims Consulting's Economic Analysis report to the Commission can be found here.
The findings of the Commission and our analysis has generated significant coverage in the national press. Read Douglas Fraser of the BBC's blog here. And Scotland on Sunday's coverage here.

The last fifteen years have seen the Hebridean Celtic Festival establish itself as a leading music event on the Scottish festival circuit. Held annually on Stornoway, the Festival has continued to grow and this year’s is expected to attract 17,000 spectators. Slims Consulting is working with the Festival to help capture the economic impact that the Festival has on the Western Isles and Scottish economies. And as well as developing an approach for this year’s study, we will be providing advice and training to Festival staff so that they can carry out their own economic impact assessments in future years. |
